Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said Syria plays an important role in the region.
Khatibzadeh added in a weekly press conference on Monday that Syria is one of the important players that cannot be abandoned in the Arab world, including the Arab League, noting that his country, as well as Russia, welcome this issue and consider it as a step in the right direction.
