Qatina Dam…one of the oldest dams in the world
Qatina Dam is one of the oldest dams in the world and it is located to the southwest of Homs on Qatina Lake which is considered as the largest natural water pool in Syria.
The Dam was built in the Seleucid era, about 2100 years ago, and it remained intact till building the modern dam directly in front of it as the old Dam is still behind the modern one till the current time.
The Dam is 1120 meter long with a height of 7 meters.
